Use the search engine below. Just type in the name of the song, the composer's name, or the name of the artist who performed it. You will be able to search by instrument, difficulty level, and type of notation/music. You can even transpose the music, and listen to it before you buy it. This is the site I have used thousands of times at the school, for all types of music! The quality and accuracy of the sheet music is the best I have found on the web.

Studying Music Theory On-Line

I know all of you are continually trying to get your music reading speed up, and improve your knowledge of things like key signatures and scales! (I am so proud of all of you!!!) Here is your link to your computerized theory website. Remember, I keep close track of who is the fastest reader in the school... so keep working on your speed! When you finish an exercise, make sure to click on "report my results" so that the program will send your results to me. (Bonnie :)

If you are a current student of The teVelde School of Music, I pay for you to have access to this site, so if you don't have a user name and a password yet, click here to email me. If you are not a student yet, you can still use the site. Go to the link above, and click on the "practice" tab. This site is a great tool for learning to read music, without getting bored. (For some reason, kids seem to like doing theory on computers much better than writing it in books...)

Here is a link to some of the compositions of Kevin Olson, a gifted young composer that writes beautiful and expressive music for pianists of all ages. There are several Intermediate Level works for the piano, including:

1. Sonatina in Flight

2. Sonatina in Seasons

3. Sonatina in Colors

4. Sonatina of the Old West

Voice Students:

Here is a link to the Digital Voice Recorder you need for your voice lessons with me:

You also need the following materials to bring to every voice lesson with you:

    1. A 3-Ring Binder
    2. 10 Empty Plastic Page Covers
    3. A Spiral Bound Notebook
    4. Your Digital Voice Recorder
    5. Extra Batteries for the Voice Recorder
    6. Typed Lyrics to Each Song you wish to Sing.
    7. Digital Sheet Music for Your Songs (you can download it from the sheet music link above)
    8. The CD or audio file of the Artist singing your song. You can bring in a CD with your songs in any format... itunes, mp3, wav, etc.
    9. Some Kind of Bag to Hold it All In.

I would also like to suggest that you make a practice space in your home, much like someone would have if they were taking piano lessons. Your space should be a small cube-sized shape, with a wall that you can face that you can mount a full-length mirror on. Across from the mirror, you should place a bar-stool that you can sit on while you are singing. I don't recommend you use a lower chair, because on a bar-stool you can sit more straight up, and really get good posture going while resting on the edge of it.

Have a small table to put your voice recorder on, and make yourself a cup of hot tea to breathe while you are warming up. It would be helpful to get a small music stand to hold your lyrics, and the notes for your voice exercises.

If you decide to evolve your practice space further, the next purchase should be a good recording mic and either a karaoke system that will record you, or a good 4-track recorder (for the techno-junkies who really know about technology). I will be having my son give me reviews on the latest karaoke machines for the Christmas season, and I will be posting the results by the end of November, 2008.
