Orchestra/Band Program Do You Want Your Child to Have an Experience of Playing a Band/Instrument, and Playing in a Real Band? If your child has expressed an interest in playing an instrument, don't miss out on this opportunity! If your student currently plays in the school band, this is a way for them to advance their skills, and get targeted lessons for their instrument. If your child wants to take another elective in school, but still wants to keep playing in a band, this is the way to accomplish that goal! Recent budget cuts in school music programs and other arts are steadily draining music in our community. The teVelde School of Music is determined to create a new orchestra and band program that will give this precious gift back to the students. We want every single child to have the opportunity to play in a band if they want to. Band Director and Instrumental Instructors We have put together a team of highly experienced music
teachers and student mentors to work with the students. Each instructor
will specialize in the instrument that they are teaching, and will
offer a sectional lesson once a week. Instruments Offered
Ability Levels Instruction will be provided by ability levels. These classes are designed to teach beginning through advanced students. Advanced students may receive partial scholarships in exchange for tutoring beginning students. Ages Grades 4-12. Students will be placed in various instrumental groups based mainly on ability levels, not on age. Students will be encouraged to challenge for chairs, to motivate them to work hard to be the best they can be. Instruments for children in 4th-6th grades will be limited to the student's physical size and ability to handle the instrument. Many instruments are available in a smaller size for younger/smaller students. Contact us for more information on instrument acquisition through purchase or rentals. Costs We have designed this program with affordability in mind. The cost of band, per month, is only $60 per month. This tuition includes a group lesson focused on the student's instrument of choice, and the orchestra rehearsal. This will give each student 2 lessons, per week, on their instrument. How to Sign Up If you are interested in more information about this revolutionary new program, please click here to email us at: The teVelde School of Music. Include your name, your student's name and age, instrument of choice, and years of experience on the instrument. We will send you an information packet and instructions on how to enroll your child. We look forward to offering this life-enhancing experience for every student. Come join our movement to create new musical possibilities and opportunities on the Central Coast. Our New Non-Profit In the next 6 months we are founding a non-profit corporation that will solicit tax deduct able donations from local corporations and businesses for scholarships, instrument purchases, etc. At that time, we will be able to offer a limited number of partial scholarships for students who can not afford the full tuition. Scholarships One of the requirements for receiving a scholarship will be that the student has made the effort to participate in the orchestra at full tuition for at least 3 months, with perfect attendance and regular practice, to prove they are serious about studying music. All scholarship recipients must volunteer to tutor beginning instrumental students at least 2 hours a week. We will also be offering donated instruments at a reduced rate to students who can not afford to rent an instrument. Tax Deductible Donations of Money and Instruments If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution or have an instrument you would like to donate, please contact us. You will be facilitating the musical education of a student that has proven, for at least 3 months, that they are absolutely serious about studying music. This means the student must pay their tuition on time, have perfect attendance to all rehearsals and group lessons, and take good care of the instrument they are using. Scholarships that are provided will be partial scholarships only, as we believe students and parents must be partially invested in their learning at any income level. We welcome donations of instruments in good repair, and
should be able to give you a tax-deduct able receipt by the end of
the year, 2010. This cannot be guaranteed, however. We will guarantee that
every donated instrument will go to a deserving student who has proven
their desire to practice, and their responsibility to take care of
an instrument. - Bonnie
